      <link>https://www.pratiquesdeformation.fr/1250</link>
This article is part of an interdisciplinary action-research project conducted within the framework of the IDéAL program (Immersion, Challenge, Otherness), funded by the OFAJ, and examines the effects of theatre as a transitional space for newly arrived allophone students in France. Through the study of two projects carried out in high schools in the Paris region, the authors analyze how engagement in theatrical practice based on personal writing and collective staging fosters the appropriation of the French language and supports students in their linguistic, cultural, and identity transitions. Theatre is considered here as a plural form of mediation bodily, linguistic, and affective enabling distancing, transformation, and the voicing of the self in the language of the other. Symbolic objects (suitcase, booklet), interactions between students and facilitators, as well as group dynamics, are mobilized to create a safe environment conducive to expression and subjectivation. The cross-analysis of written productions, interviews, and field data reveals the pedagogical and relational conditions that make possible this transformation in the relationship to the language of the host country. </description>
